Tired

It's been a long week and it's only Wednesday. I'm just exhausted.

The case of the missing bear.

Bear is gone. He has disappeared in the past, but never for this long. We've searched the house high and low, all the cars, Grandma's house, everywhere, but he is still gone. It's heart-breaking to hear big N at bedtime, "Momma, where's bear?" Poor guy. I tried finding a new one, but bear is an odd teddy bear that had his own jammies on from the Carter's outlet. No one has a spare floating around, I've asked everywhere. But, even if I were to replace it, I don't think I could get him to look as worn and loved.

Where is bear?

The fee for going out

I love my kids, but I'll admit it is nice to go out once in a while and have a baby sitter come over, usually someone in the family. We had a nice evening out at a house-warming party to come home to the kids sound asleep.

Around 3AM my daughter woke up wondering where we were. First she called out, "Daddy! Daddy! DADDY!" She got a cuddle from Daddy and started yelling, "Mommy! Mommy! MOMMY!!" She reached out for me when I walked in and cuddled in on her tummy, like she hasn't done since she was a baby. She then started asking about Aunt Sarah who had been watching her while we were out. Little N finally calmed down and went back to sleep around 4AM.

After about 3 hours of sleep, Big N woke us up at 7AM. I hear his door open and he thunders down the hallway to the bathroom. When he was finished, he tip-toed down the hall and starting peaking in our room through the open door. I could only assume what was going through his head, "I want to get up and play, but do I dare while Mommy and Daddy sleep?" I chanced making a suggestion that he goes to his room and turns his light on to play. When he runs through his door, I am hopeful that I might get a few more minutes of sleep. Big N has had a full night of sleep and returns with a book since we are awake enough to talk to him, "Mommy, can I read you a story?" He then climbed into bed with us before I could answer and wiggled and kicked until he was comfortable.

It's a little more pricey to go out than you would think with a free baby sitter. You stay up past your bedtime and there is no sleeping for you when you get home.

It's come to duct tape

My daughter is an escape artist. Once she is in bed, she takes everything off down to her diaper and falls asleep. This is fine until she "needs" the diaper and wakes up on soaking wet sheets, really cold. Her jammies are of course dry.

Recently, we decided to do something about this. I pulled out my son's 4T jammies. Little N wears a 2T, meaning the 4Ts are a huge on her. I put the jammies on her backwards and flipped the feet around. This worked for a while, until the feet would untwist and she would trip.

The next option was duct tape. This solves the diaper problem. We have resorted to duct taping her diaper shut, putting her in jammies backwards, so she can't get to the zipper, and then a vest on top, also backwards, to further slow her down.

Knitting once again!

I have finally started knitting again! It's really been nice. I've finished a hat for my daughter, a gift I can't mention just yet in case the person it is for reads this, and a capelet for myself based off of this pattern:

My son asked me to make him a sweater. He gave me this serious look, "Mommy, could you make me a shiny green sweater?" I of course said yes and looked for a pattern using some larger needles. He picked out a wool yarn in a dark-grey green. It's a nice color, not what I would have thought as shiny. I'm making a nice V-neck for him and I've gotten most of the neck done. He saw it and asked me why I hadn't finished it, yet. "I can't wear it like this, Mommy!" I think I need to work on teaching him some patience.

Here is the sweater I am making for Nathan:
