I love my kids, but I'll admit it is nice to go out once in a while and have a baby sitter come over, usually someone in the family. We had a nice evening out at a house-warming party to come home to the kids sound asleep.
Around 3AM my daughter woke up wondering where we were. First she called out, "Daddy! Daddy! DADDY!" She got a cuddle from Daddy and started yelling, "Mommy! Mommy! MOMMY!!" She reached out for me when I walked in and cuddled in on her tummy, like she hasn't done since she was a baby. She then started asking about Aunt Sarah who had been watching her while we were out. Little N finally calmed down and went back to sleep around 4AM.
After about 3 hours of sleep, Big N woke us up at 7AM. I hear his door open and he thunders down the hallway to the bathroom. When he was finished, he tip-toed down the hall and starting peaking in our room through the open door. I could only assume what was going through his head, "I want to get up and play, but do I dare while Mommy and Daddy sleep?" I chanced making a suggestion that he goes to his room and turns his light on to play. When he runs through his door, I am hopeful that I might get a few more minutes of sleep. Big N has had a full night of sleep and returns with a book since we are awake enough to talk to him, "Mommy, can I read you a story?" He then climbed into bed with us before I could answer and wiggled and kicked until he was comfortable.
It's a little more pricey to go out than you would think with a free baby sitter. You stay up past your bedtime and there is no sleeping for you when you get home.

so true! now imagine that you HAD paid a babysitter! out the money and the sleep, lol. so stick to free babysitters for sure ;)
I agree with what Jovi said, but the really important thing is did you have fun on your date without the kids? I still think that wins over the lost sleep.
Yes, true!! But it must have been fun to be out sans kids..For sure!
